Reflections on UN and partner investments in the region

The UNISS rapid assessment takes stock of how the UN’s programming across the ten UNISS countries tackles the root causes of fragility driving conflict and forced displacement in the Sahel. The report identifies trends and shares lessons learned from the UNISS partners engaged in the Humanitarian, Development and Peace Nexus (HDP-N) across the target countries.

Defining Climate Crisis Priorities

We supported the ambitions of Save the Children (STC) to become a leader in addressing the impacts of climate change on children and youth by identifying programmatic opportunities for selected country offices. We proposed a set of programmatic recommendations that aim to mitigate current and future climate impacts in a manner that addresses the specific interests of youth and children.

Sahel Climate Change, Conflict, Displacement and Migration Programme (Sahel CCDMP)

Sahel CCDMP

We drafted the regional “Sahel Climate Change, Conflict, Displacement and Irregular Migration Programme (CCDMP)” for the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA). The programme seeks to strengthen national and regional capacities to address root causes of fragility that are fuelling conflict and forced displacement/migration in the Sahel, which are increasingly being exacerbated by climate change.

Denmark-Africa Dialogue series

2019 - ongoing

Enhancing understanding

We support the design and implementation of a series of dialogues for the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The goal is to enhance understanding in Denmark and Africa of the challenges facing Denmark and its partners in their work towards peace, security and development in Africa.

However, the collection, analysis, and evaluation of data can be costly and time-consuming, and measuring social impact is challenging. Accurate data and partnerships are vital to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in this regard.

These contexts are often protracted, fueled by a potent mix of factors including violent extremism, terrorism and transnational organized crime.

There is a pressing need to build capacity to mitigate these challenges.
